Our Standards. Your Protection.
You deserve to know
exactly who you’re working with.
Here’s how Greatway Financial operates and why it matters to you.
When you work with a Greatway agent, you are not just working with one person.
You are working with a company that has spent years building a system to make sure that person is trained, screened, and genuinely looking out for you.
Greatway Financial is a licensed Insurance Managing General Agency, or MGA, operating across Canada. We do not sell insurance directly. Our independent agents do. But we set the standards they operate by, and we hold them to it.
Here is exactly what that looks like.
A licensed company that sits between you and the insurance carrier.
Our agents are independent contractors, not employees of any single insurance company. They carry their own provincial insurance license and have access to products from multiple trusted Canadian carriers.
- ✓Your agent recommends what fits your life, not just what one company offers
- ✓Policies issued and underwritten by licensed Canadian insurance companies
- ✓Greatway provides the training, compliance, and operational infrastructure
- ✓Independent agents operating under provincial insurance regulators
Not everyone who wants to become an insurance agent contracts with Greatway Financial. Before anyone in our network sits across from a client, they go through the following.
- ✓A criminal background check. No exceptions.
- ✓A minimum credit score requirement. We believe financial responsibility is a baseline expectation for anyone advising others on financial matters.
- ✓An interview and internal review that assesses professionalism, communication, and long-term fit for a career in the Canadian insurance industry.
Once contracted, every new agent completes a 12-module CE-accredited training program before working with clients. CE-accredited means it counts toward the continuing education requirements that provincial regulators across Canada require all licensed insurance agents to maintain. The program covers financial needs analysis, product suitability, documentation practices, and professional conduct.
We do not consider training a one-time event. It is an ongoing standard.
This is the part that matters most.
Before any recommendation is made, your agent is required to complete a documented Financial Needs Analysis. This looks at your financial situation, your family, your goals, and your protection needs. The recommendation has to be grounded in your reality.
Your agent is required to present a minimum of two product recommendations. You get options. You get to compare. You get to decide. No one should walk away from the conversation feeling like they had no choice. Everything discussed is documented. The products presented, the reasoning behind the recommendation, and your agent's notes are all kept on record.
Your agent is also expected to check in with you periodically to make sure your coverage still fits your life as things change. At every step, you retain the right to accept, decline, or seek a second opinion on anything presented to you. Always.
Having standards is only meaningful if someone is actually checking.
Greatway Financial maintains an active compliance framework across its independent insurance agent network in Canada. This includes internal practice reviews, compliance audits, and monitoring processes that identify where additional oversight is needed.
We have a dedicated supervision team, internal guidelines for disciplinary action when professional standards are not met, and remediation processes for agents who need to improve.
Our agents also maintain errors and omissions insurance coverage through a sponsored program, which means clients have an additional layer of professional liability protection. When something does not meet our standard, we address it. That is not a marketing line. It is how the framework is built.
If you have a concern about how you were treated by a Greatway agent, you do not have to wonder what to do with it. We have a formal complaint handling process that gives you a clear, direct path to raise your concern and have it reviewed.
Greatway Financial has been a licensed Insurance MGA in Canada since 2010. We have grown from 60 agents to a national network of thousands of licensed professionals serving Canadian families coast to coast. That growth has come with responsibility. These standards are how we honour it.
Greatway also maintains a formal whistleblower policy. Anyone inside our network who has concerns about professional conduct or business practices can report them without fear of retaliation. That policy exists because accountability cannot stop at the client level. It must run all the way through the organization. You can read it here.
Let’s start building your legacy.

Please be assured that we will never sell or distribute the personal information you provide to us.
